Over the last 20 years libraries have been meeting the challenge of a rapidly changing environment. Libraries now supply e-books, provide free internet-access, deliver training and a host of other services in addition to continuing to lend books, journals, DVDs and all the “traditional” materials their clients expect.

Now the imperative is to deliver even more services – but with fewer resources. Technology is often seen as the way to manage this balancing act, but finding the right technology to use, and how best to integrate it with existing systems is a difficult task.
